Smokey and Bandit were brought to Robin’s Nest as kittens, adopted through the San Diego Humane Society in 2023. Smokey is solid black; Bandit was white with black markings. After several months, the pair were let out to wander the ranch and “do their thing” as ranch hands. Looking after pesky varmints that cause trouble with the animal’s feed. Unfortunately, Bandit didn’t come in one night. We don’t like to think of what might have happened, but must accept the realities of ranch life.
Smokey, a beautiful black cat with bright green eyes, is still with us and, like a good ranch cat, patrols the ranch daily!
Common Myths About Cats
Myth #1: Black cats are unlucky. . This folklore varies by culture. For eg, in Japan it is considered good luck. Sadly, abandoned black cats are difficult to rehome.
Myth #2: All cats hate water. Cats are not big fans of water, probably because their coats don’t dry very quickly. But some adapt quite well and are able to swim.
Myth #4: Cats always land on their feet. Cats do have a “righting reflex” but that’s not always the case. It’s not worth the chance!
