As testament to the uniqueness of Sulcata tortoises…Charles Darwin and Steve Irwin cared for the very same tortoise!

As noted, tortoises have an extraordinary lifespan, typically living between 80 and 120 years in captivity! We adopted Marco and Polo, two brothers, in early 2024 from a nearby rescue. Due to their longevity, they often outlive their caretakers, which can lead to inadequate care and lack of support after an owner passes away. Unfortunately, both of these situations were true for these boys, who are now about 20 years old. Thankfully, they are adjusting very well!
